Depart Heathrow on your overnight flight to Johannesburg.

Tue 2 Feb - JOHANNESBURG  to GREATER KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Arrive Johannesburg, complete customs and immigration formalities and connect on your 1 hour domestic flight to Hoedspruit, next to the Kruger National Park. On arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, Kapama Rangers welcome and greet guests before assisting them onto open safari vehicles for the short transfer to the lodge. On arrival check in and then enjoy a buffet lunch.   

Kapama Private Game Reserve is an African Eden. Sweeping across 13 000 hectares of savannah and riverine forest, Kapama represents a piece of Africa as it used to be. With the mighty Drakensberg mountains in the distance and iconic Kruger National Park to the east, Kapama has the finest wildlife safari offering with vast herds of buffalo, elephant and antelope along with plentiful predators resident on the reserve.

Tonight you are invited to join your tour host and fellow travellers for ‘Welcome Drinks’ and an introduction to South Africa from our local agent. Dinner will be enjoyed in the Lodge dining Room.

Wed 3 - Thu 4 Feb - KAPAMA GAME RESERVE

The days start with an early wake-up call between 5am and 5:30am. Tea, coffee and rusks are enjoyed together before heading out at first light. Halfway through the game drive, there’s a stop for hot drinks and snacks, before returning to the lodge at around 9am for a  hearty breakfast. After breakfast relax around the pool or enjoy one of the many activities the lodge has on offer, including (payable locally) Spa treatments, an Elephant back Safari or nature walk with your Ranger.

Lunch is served at your leisure followed by an afternoon safari.  Dinner will either be served at the lodge dining room or in the open air Boma.

Fri 5 Feb - KAPAMA to PORT ELIZABETH

After your early morning game drive and breakfast, transfer to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg where you will connect to your onward flight to Port Elizabeth.  Arrive Port Elizabeth where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.   

Port Elizabeth or PE is known as the Friendly City and the Windy City and hopefully during your stay here you will get a chance to experience the former and not the latter! Port Elizabeth was established to accommodate British settlers who were bought out on a government sponsored programme to provide a buffer between the warring Cape Dutch and the Xhosa. The little port grew from there and today it is the gateway to the Garden Route, as well as the Eastern Cape’s game reserves and beaches.

Sun 7 Feb - PORT ELIZABETH

Enjoy a leisurely day relaxing at the hotel or spending time at the vibrant Waterfront with its many shops, restaurants and bars. Alternatively take a local day tour or spend the day on the beach.

Mon 8 Feb - PORT ELIZABETH to JOHANNESBURG

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Johannesburg.  Arrive Johannesburg where you will be met and transferred to Sandton, one of Johannesburg's prestigious suburbs. 

Johannesburg is one of Africa’s biggest and most vibrant cities. It is the economic capital of Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa. Although not as famous as other South African destinations, there is plenty to do in Johannesburg and nearby Pretoria. The old city is a multi-cultural mixture of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks and ultra modern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries and organised tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is Southern Africa’s best and the many restaurants cater for all tastes. The nearby township of Soweto is Johannesburg’s most popular tourist attraction.

Wed 10 Feb - JOHANNESBURG

Enjoy a free day relaxing at the hotel or alternatively take a local day tour.

Optional: Soweto Day Tour         ( R 1150.00  per person )

A Soweto Day Tour takes in the highlights of this iconic township including Nelson Mandela’s former home and the Hector Pieterson museum (he was one of the school children who was shot in the 1976 Soweto Uprising). You will get close to Soweto Culture, meeting the people, trying local foods and maybe even some Omqombothi (our traditional beer) at a shebeen. This tour is one of a kind, the smell of pavement cooked meals and the buzz in the streets of people going about their daily chores. Come and experience township life, the humanity, hospitality and warmth of the people, the "Ubuntu" as it is known in South Africa.

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cape Town. On arrival in Cape Town you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Mon 15 Feb - CAPE TOWN

Enjoy your day relaxing at the hotel or spending time at the vibrant Waterfront with its many shops, restaurants and bars. Alternatively take a trip up Table Mountain or spend the day on the beach.

Optional: City Tour  ( R 850 pp excludes Table Mountain Cable Car Fee)

Travel by cable car to top of Table Mountain (excludes cableway ticket fee & weather permitting) then descend and pass through Malay Quarter, city centre and Company Gardens. Visit the Castle of Good Hope (time permitting) and Diamond Works. Travel to Milnerton area and photograph Table Mountain from across Table Bay (time permitting).

Tue 16 Feb  - CAPE TOWN

Enjoy a free day relaxing at the hotel or at a favourite waterfront restaurant,  Alternatively you could enjoy a stunning tour to the Cape of Good Hope.

Embark on a spectacular journey around Cape Peninsula taking in all the highlights and breath-taking beauty of this world-renowned region. Time to explore Cape Town or take an optional tour to Robben Island. The tours take 3 hours and depart from the Waterfront.

Enjoy your day relaxing at the hotel or the beach.  Alternatively take a trip to the Cape Winelands.

Mon 22 Feb - JOHANNESBURG to LONDON

Enjoy a lazy day at the hotel before its time to pack your bags and prepare for your flight home. Transfer to OR Thambo International Airport, complete check-in formalities and proceed to the departure lounge. Arrive Heathrow early the following morning (23 February).
