England’s Test Tour to Sri Lanka
Known as the ‘teardrop of India’, Sri Lanka nestles in the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. A beguiling island with a rich and chequered past, you’ll find it hard to pick a highlight from the many fascinating sights and experiences you will encounter on tour. Sri Lanka is an island bursting with temples, gigantic Buddhas and ancient cities. There are beautiful beaches, tea plantations and National Parks such as Yala where elephants and leopards roam free.
England will play two Tests in Galle and Colombo. The fortified historic city of Galle is a busy port, famous for its stilt fisherman and ancient Portuguese fortress. In complete contrast is Colombo, a vibrant, bustling city, full of life, full of people and full of Tuk Tuk’s. Our tours will offer single and multi Test options with the possibility of adding additional nights and stopovers.
Sporting Traveller tours are all about quality and value for money. When travelling so far from home it’s great to know you will be staying in top quality hotels and looked after by professional tour managers. With over 20 years touring experience we know what to include and what to leave out of our tours. When it comes to the cricket, we are delighted to be joined by our ever popular and charismatic tour host, Norman Gifford who will escort both Tests.
Sri Lanka will be keen to avenge their recent defeat on English soil and we hope you can join us to experience some great cricket, stunning sights and warm hospitality.
See you at the cricket!

Enjoy the small group atmosphere
Holidays are not only about what you will see and experience … they’re also about the people you meet and the great times you share. As well as exploring new and exciting places, one of the best discoveries you’ll make is the group spirit and camaraderie of your fellow travellers. Being part of a small group you will quickly make friends with other travellers attracted to our style of travel … like-minded people from all walks of life.
Many of the people who join us on one of our holidays are travelling by themselves, so if you’re a solo traveller, rest assured that you’ll be with other like-minded people. On any given departure, you’ll find a mix of couples and friends travelling together, as well as other solo travellers. One of the great benefits of our trips is that they allow you to be independent but provide security and company whenever you choose.
All match tickets are guaranteed as we purchase directly from the Official agent for the Sri Lanka Cricket Union (SLC). Test match tickets are sold to international supporters on a ‘season ticket’ basis, with no refund for unused tickets. The cost price of your tickets will be added as a separate charge to your holiday invoice.
The Social Side
Welcome drink receptions, cricket forum and tour dinners are planned to let you meet your fellow travellers, tour host and local tour manager in an informal and social setting. These popular gatherings allow you to debate England’s current performance, while your tour host provides his own personal match analysis and answers as many questions as time permits from the floor.
In addition to experienced local tour managers, our ever popular cricket host, Norman Gifford looks forward to hosting you in Galle & Colombo.
