A real treat of a course with spectacular views over the Bay of Lagos, it combines 5 holes of links-style golf on its first nine with a more parkland feel to the back nine. After the uphill 7th the rest of the holes are on gentle slopes. An interesting and challenging course, well worth the visit.

Located 10k from Portimao this is the newest course to open on the Algarve in Feb 2003. Laid out through small undulating valleys it is already know for its characteristic large greens, that will test your putting, and some deep bunkers. An excellent addition to the Western Algarve.

Located near Alvor on the western Algarve, this course is set in rolling countryside. The first 9 holes offer excellent views over the bay, the second 9 face inland and wind through gentle valley slopes. The 16th at 650 yards is one of Europe’s longest. A enjoyable course for all.

Located next to Pinta, Gramacho has recently opened a second 9 holes to its original 9. All are on undulating land, with narrow fairways demanding careful play. As with Pinta the condition of Gramacho is maintained to a high standard year round.

Located to the west of Albufeira on a section of uncharacteristic flat coast land. This links-style course combined with a ‘feel of Florida’ not unexpectedly has many water hazards, as it is virtually below sea level. Open to the elements.

Managed and situated in the grounds of the Sheraton, this immaculately maintained short course (only 2 holes over 400 yards) offers an interesting and enjoyable 9 holes. The spectacular ‘devil’s parlour’ par 3 9th , is a ‘must play hole’ for any golfer.

The course shares the same excellent club house as Laguna, and its front 9 are of a similar style to Laguna but with larger greens. The newer back 9, by contrast, are mainly cut into umbrella pines giving the course a very distinctive feel. Not one to be missed.

The layout is very different on this fairly flat course with some wider fairways. What it lacks in Pine trees and vegetation it makes up for in water and bunker hazards ! Visually intimidating but not very long, an enjoyable course for players of all standards.

Another course distinguished by its pine tree lined fairways and characteristic small greens. The back nine is more open and undulating with views over the sea. Pinhal has undergone substantial modifications, which have greatly enhanced this popular course.

As soon as you arrive at the small club house you can sense its something special. This mature parkland course, with undulating fairways, offers a variety of holes in immaculate condition. Due to its popularity it can be hard to secure tee times in peak periods.

Now consisting of three 9 hole loops, this very popular Vilamoura ‘picture postcard’ course is immaculately maintained. A superb course famous for its par 3 16th perched across the red sandstone cliff tops. Considered a more difficult course than the Ocean the Royal has numerous sand and water hazards. Formed part of the Open course (with the Ocean) in 2002 & 2003. Buggies compulsary before 10.30 - payable locally.

The original course became famous for hosting the Portuguese Open 7 times. A great parkland course with undulating fairways and many water hazards including the par 3 15th with a 175 yards over a lake ! Tee times can be hard to obtain.

The ‘old’ Ria Formosa course is a very similar style to its sister course set amongst the pine trees. Not quite as challenging but the many doglegs on the course create an excellent test for all golfers.
