A fantastic safari experience awaits as you go in search of the 'Big Five' at Kapama River Lodge in Greater Kruger National Park. We return to Johannesburg via the awe-inspiring beauty of Gods Window, Blyde River Canyon and Mac Mac Falls on a wonderful panoramic tour, before arriving in Johannesburg and the residential district of Sandton, ready for the 1st Test at SuperSport Park, Centurion. Johannesburg has come a long way in recent times as it pushes towards the future with exciting urban projects and away from its tainted Apartheid past. The locals love their cricket and you are assured of a tremendous atmosphere for the Christmas Test.

ITINERARY

Fri 20 Dec ARRIVE Johannesburg - Fly to Hoedspruit (Greater Kruger National Park)
Arrive Johannesburg, clear customs and immigration formalities and proceed to your onward flight to Greater Kruger National Park. On arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, Kapama Rangers will welcome you and escort you to open safari vehicles for the short drive to Kapama River Lodge. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at the lodge and then complete check in formalities.

Kapama Private Game Reserve is an African Eden. Sweeping across 13 000 hectares of savannah and riverine forest, Kapama represents a piece of Africa as it used to be. With the mighty Drakensberg mountains in the distance and iconic Kruger National Park to the east, Kapama has the finest safari offering with large herds of buffalo, elephant and antelope along with plentiful predators resident on the reserve.

Meet your ranger and tracker at afternoon tea, then it's time to embark in open-top safari vehicles on your first safari. Enjoy a unique wildlife experience, stop for a sundowner in the bush and then return to the lodge and freshen-up ready for dinner.

Sat 21 - Sun 22 Dec Kapama River Lodge
As the sun rises over the African bush, the land comes alive with kudu and impala and spectacular predators are never far away. The day starts with an early wake-up call around 5am. Tea, coffee and biscuits are enjoyed together before heading out at first light. Halfway through the game drive, there’s a stop for hot drinks and snacks, before returning to the lodge around 9am for a hearty breakfast.

After breakfast, relax around one of the lodges two pools or enjoy one of the many activities on offer, including (all payable locally) Spa treatments, Elephant Interaction, Eco Children Community School, Hoedspruit Centre of Endangered Species, a Romantic Sleep Out or Hot Air Balloon Flight.

Lunch is served at the lodge, followed by your late afternoon safari. Dinner will either be served in the lodge dining room or outdoor Boma.

Mon 23 Dec Scenic Panoramic Tour to Johannesburg
Enjoy a final game drive and hearty breakfast, before its time to complete check-out formalities and leave Kapama. Our drive through Mpumalanga to Johannesburg will showcase fresh mountain scenery, canyons, rock formations, waterfalls and forests as we make our way along the aptly named 'Panoramic Route'. We will break the journey for photo opportunites at Gods Window, Blyde River Canyon and Mac Mac Falls and will stop for lunch in the country village of Dullstroom, where you will have time to explore its quaint shops and find a spot for lunch (at own expense). Our journey continues to Johannesburg, where we aim to arrive early evening.

Sandton is a residential suburb of Johannesburg, which has grown to become one of Africa’s biggest and most vibrant cities. You are close to Nelson Mandela Square and the Sandton City Shopping Centre, numerous bars and restaurants and some excellent museums and art galleries. The nearby township of Soweto is Johannesburg’s most popular tourist attraction. Enjoy a full day of sightseeing, shopping or simply relaxing at your hotel.

Wed 25 Dec Special Christmas Lunch
Our venue for Christmas lunch is Toadbury Hall Country Hotel, set along the banks of the Crocodile River in Muldersdrift, in the suburbs of Johannesburg. The hotel boasts lush gardens, with rolling lawns and landscaped flower beds under majestic elm trees.

Thu 26- Mon 30 Dec 1st SUNFOIL TEST, SOUTH AFRICA v ENGLAND

Venue: SuperSport Stadium, Centurion

Daily return transfers will be provided to the ground which is around a 30-40 minute transfer from Sandton.
During the Test you are invited to join your host and fellow travellers for a special Test dinner, including our popular Q&A cricket forum.

Tue 31 Dec DEPART Johannesburg
If you are returning home today, its time to pack your bags and transfer to Johannesburg International Airport.

Alternatively, if you want to enjoy New Year in Cape Town and see the 2nd Test at Newlands, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cape Town.

How to book

When you have chosen the holiday you wish to book, call our sales team on 01737 244398 to check the availability of the tour.

To confirm your booking we need to collect a deposit payment equivalent to 30% of the total holiday price. The deposit amount will increase if flights are added as the full cost of the flights needs to be collected at the time of booking. Our preferred method of payment is via bank transfer, quoting your invoice number (TSTXXXX) on all payments. Credit and debit cards are also accepted.

Your final balance payment will be due 90 days before you are due to travel. The person signing the booking form will be treated as doing so on behalf of, and with the consent of, all the persons for whom the booking is made and is responsible for ensuring due payment of all monies. Please ensure you return your signed booking form, together with a copy of the photograph page of all passports.
