SKI WHISTLER
Why Canada and Why Whistler....
Quite simply we wanted to offer an unforgetable skiing experience in a resort that ticks all the boxes. It comes as no suprise that Canada is one of the world's top ski holiday destinations. Pick of the bunch as far as we are concerned is Whistler/Blackcomb, host mountain resort for the amazing Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. One look at this giant winter sports paradise and you’ll understand why. The peaks here are vast and the skiing is serious. Whistler and Blackcomb mountains feature over 8,000 acres of terrain, with 12 alpine bowls, 3 glaciers, over 200 marked trails. Both mountains provide a huge range of beginner, intermediate and advanced skiing and boarding, and combined with a massive average annual snowfall of over 38 feet, the 'Whistler' experience is hard to beat. Equally good away from the slopes, Whistler is not so much a village as a small town with outstanding après-ski and dining options. Whistler has great shopping some of which can empty your wallet, melt your plastic and scare your bank manager, but Canada still offers superb value for money and the guarantee of great snow!
Skiing here is immense. Expect amazing snow, world-class facilities, stunning accommodation, a genuine friendly welcome and outstanding terrain to suit all abilities and age-groups. Welcome to powder country!

Ski Information
Whistler’s two linked mountains (Whistler and Blackcomb) add up to make the biggest ski area in North America, which puts the resort on the shortlist of most transatlantic visitors – and certainly intermediates who like to rack up the miles without repeating the same slopes. For beginners, there are excellent nursery slopes, and top-to-bottom green runs to progress to. For experts, the high open bowls offer a wide range of possibilities, with regular dumps of powder streaming in from the nearby Pacific.
BEGINNERS
Beautiful scenic runs gently meander down the mountain and finish off at the village so a well earned 'pick-me-up' will definitely be the order of the day.
INTERMEDIATES
Enjoy skiing on slopes groomed to velvety perfection and beautiful long cruising runs, not to mention the incredibly spectacular scenery. Take the Peak chairlift to the top of Whistler mountain and enjoy the blue Peak to Creek run.
ADVANCED
The 12 massive high alpine bowls offering endless off-piste challenges and oceans of powder. The 3 glaciers ensure 100% guaranteed snow all season. Recommended is the Blackcomb Glacier, accessed by Spanky's Ladder and Whistler, West, Bagel and the new Flute bowls for some powder skiing.

Resort Info
Voted the best ski resort in North America 8 years in a row, Whistler lies around 120km from Vancouver and is home to two spectacular mountains: Whistler and Blackcomb. Boasting dramatic mountain scenery and a lively après scene, Whistler, on the west coast of Canada in British Columbia, is much more European in flavour than most North American resorts. Twenty years ago, it was more of a locals mountain than the top international resort it is now. But even though it’s grown, what made it so special then – sniffle stations, Belgian waffles on the mountain, pitchers of margaritas in resort and the sort of powder that makes you sing with joy – remain.
There are no cars in the centre of Whistler Village, the main hub of the resort, so it’s pleasant to stroll around, break for a cappuccino and window-shop at the ever-increasing number of boutiques and shops, offering everything from home furnishings to designer art.
THE SOCIAL SCENE
Once off the slopes you have a huge range and types of restaurants, all of which are really well priced. Iif you’re after cheap and cheerful then there’s plenty on offer, the Spaghetti Factory or Longhorn Saloon are popular while for really good Canadian fare (ribs, wings, nachos etc!) head to the Brew House, Mongolie Grill and Sushi Village which are good fun. Whistler boasts the the best après-ski and nightlife of any Canadian resort. Enjopy lively post ski drinks at the GLC or Longhorn at Whistler base, Merlin’s at Blackcomb and Dusty’s at Creekside. For something a little more refined an après ski drink around the fire pits at the Fairmont is worth it and the bars at the Hilton and Four Seasons are also good fun. Later on the Brew House is where to head if there’s a hockey match on but all the bars within the village are pretty good. There is also regular live music and concerts throughout the season and numerous nighclubs, of which Mojos and Garfinkel are popular options.
NON SKIING ACTIVITIES
If you fancy a break from skiing there are a wide range of activities available including bobsleigh, bungee jumping, cinema, helicopter rides, ice climbing, leisure centre with aerobics, indoor swimming pool and yoga, outdoor ice skating, sleigh rides, skeleton, ziplining, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, heli-skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoe walking, tubing and winter walking trails...the list is endless! You can also spend a day away from the slopes and visit beautiful Vancouver, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Rocky Mountains and well worth a visit.
Whistler is more cosmopolitan than many alpine resorts and a great destination even for non-skiers, with a strong selection of spas, restaurants and family activities on offer. The Scandinave Spa is a popular choice - a luxurious retreat set in stunning wilderness and boasting hot tubs at different temperatures, massages and other treatment options. Or take a scenic helicopter ride around the area.
Accommodation Options
Whistler Village contains the majority of the resort's restaurants, bars, shops and hotels. It was developed in the 1970s as a base for both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Upper Village, at the foot of Blackcomb is quieter, being further away from the main village and its nightlife. To the south west is Creekside, where Whistler started as in the mid-1960s and following a major facelift for the 2010 Games, is now mostly condos and private homes.
Since the Peak 2 Peak gondola opened in 2008, linking Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, all three locations now provide easy access to the entire ski area. There is also a free bus service between Whistler Village and Upper Village, though it can be just as quick to walk (about 10 minutes) on pedestrian-only trails.
